Friends of Waverley Membership

Paddle Steamer Waverley, built almost 70 years ago, is the world's last seagoing paddle steamer. At
the end of her commercial life in 1974, she was famously 'sold' for £1 by Caledonian MacBrayne to the
Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. They set up Waverley Steam Navigation Co. Limited (a charity
registered in Scotland), and Waverley began a second career as one of the country's best-loved tourist
attractions. Since she has been in operational preservation, Waverley has carried over 5 million
passengers from over 70 ports around the UK.

In 1986, the Classic Cruise Ship Balmoral - last of the famous 'White Funnel Fleet' of Bristol Channel
Pleasure Steamers - joined Waverley and carries out a varied programme of UK-wide day trips and
cruises every year in support of the world's last seagoing paddle steamer.

The annual Friends of Waverly Membership scheme offers our supporters the opportunity to contribute to her preservation, whilst making fantastic savings on sailing.
